Mission and Policies

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide exceptional orthodontics for our patients in a professional, courteous, and enjoyable atmosphere.

Appointments

During your orthodontic treatment, you will have basically four types of appointments. They are listed for your reference.

Placement of Braces

The placement of your braces is usually scheduled in the morning and requires one hour.

Adjustment Appointments

Orthodontics requires unique scheduling techniques simply because braces need routine adjustments. These adjustments are usually scheduled five to ten weeks apart and last 20 to 60 minutes. This is the most frequent type of appointment you will have scheduled.

Removal of Braces

The removal of your braces will take about an hour and is also scheduled in the morning. The teeth will be polished and cleaned. Final photographs and X-rays of the teeth will be obtained, and a lower retainer will be delivered.

Retention Appointments

Following removal of your braces, you will be given retainers. After you receive your retainer, there will be two appointments to check on the retention of our work (at three months and nine months). After the final retainer check, we will release you from our retention program. However, in order to maintain your smile, retainer wear is required for a lifetime.

Scheduling

In an effort to improve our service to you, our schedule is designed with these goals in mind:

  • Reduce waiting time by seeing you on time for your appointment
  • Have plenty of time during each appointment to complete the necessary treatment
  • Allow time to answer questions about your treatment

Because of the many needs of our patients, our schedule embodies both structure and flexibility.

Your late arrival can pose a problem. In fairness to other scheduled patients, if you are late, we may need to reschedule your appointment. Because our appointments are usually scheduled five to ten weeks in advance, it may be several weeks before we can reschedule the appointment. Rescheduling appointments may delay your treatment, so please make every effort to be on time!

Re-Scheduling

We know that things happen and there will be times you may need to reschedule an appointment. Please give us a call as soon as possible so we can quickly reappoint you. By doing so, we can avoid extending your time in braces and get you rescheduled as quickly as possible.

Following a missed appointment, a reminder phone call will be made to bring the absence to your attention.

Excessive broken and rescheduled appointments can result in additional charges and increased treatment time.
